Families staying at Unverferth come from outside of Franklin County and are patients or have loved ones at the Medical Center- typically with heart and lung issues. Families are referred to the House through their OSU Social Worker and stay anywhere from 1 night to over 14 months. Most of the families use the house as a place for rest and time to get away from the hectic day at the hospital. Volunteer opportunities include group cleaning, cooking, yard work, and staffing for Unverferth special events. It is a rare privilege to find a volunteering opportunity relating to the personal, familial aspect of hospital treatment!
