Volunteering with the SERVICE Squad

What does it mean to be a SERVICE Squad volunteer?

As an individual volunteer:

  • You have the option to volunteer at any of our volunteer sites. We have partnerships with at least five non-profit organizations around campus and within the Columbus area (we call these organizations our 'sites') at all times, so you can seek out the community service opportunity that best fits your interests and the time commitment you're looking to make.
  • You're invited to attend quarterly all-SERVICE Squad meetings that include SERVICE Squad volunteers, Site Liaisons (SERVICE Squad leaders, volunteer experience coordinators), Vice Presidents (SERVICE Squad leaders, specialists in one portion of our organization), the President, and the Advisors. This is an opportunity to network with others within our organization and ultimately learn something that will benefit and enrich your community service; topics range from adding meaning to volunteer experience through reflection to marketing your volunteer experience on your resume and in applications!
  • You have the opportunity to serve in SERVICE Squad leadership positions. Our leadership positions include Vice Presidents – specialists in finance, internal relations, external relations, development and technology – as well as Site Liaisons who are the volunteer experience coordinators who work each site to organize volunteer efforts!
  • You're connected with a network of student leaders all working to benefit you and your development through service!

As someone volunteering with members of a group to which they already belong:

  • Your group has the option to volunteer at any of our volunteer sites that have group opportunities. We have partnerships with at least five non-profit organizations around campus and within the Columbus area (we call these organizations our 'sites') at all times, so you can seek out the community service opportunity that best fits your group’s interests and the time commitment you're looking to make.
  • You’re connected with a network of student leaders all working to benefit you and your group’s development through service!
